Packing for Umrah can be stressful. You don't want to arrive in Makkah realizing you forgot your unscented soap or your Ihram belt. This represents the Ultimate 2026 Approved Packing List, optimized for the new baggage rules of Saudi airlines.

🧳 The Golden Rule of Packing

Pack Light. You will be moving hotels between Makkah and Madinah. Max Weight: Usually 2 x 23kg for international flights, but getting taxi transport for 8 suitcases is expensive. Aim for 1 suitcase per person.

Essential Documents (Carry-On Bag)

Keep these on you AT ALL TIMES.

• [ ] Passport (Valid 6+ months)
• [ ] Umrah Visa Printout (x3 copies)
• [ ] Nusuk App (Installed & Logged in)
• [ ] Hotel Booking Vouchers
• [ ] Transport Booking: UmrahTransit Confirmation pdf (Accepted by authorities)
• [ ] Vaccination Cards (If required by your country)

For Men (The Ihram Kit)

• [ ] Ihram Sheets (x2 sets): One to wear, one spare. Cotton/Towel material is best.
• [ ] Ihram Belt: Essential for holding your phone/money and keeping sheets up!
• [ ] Unscented Deodorant/Soap: MUST be unscented for the state of Ihram.
• [ ] Sandals/Slippers: Must expose the ankles and top of the foot. Crocs are popular.
• [ ] Shorts/Underwear: For after Ihram (you cannot wear underwear under Ihram).

For Women

• [ ] Abayas (x3-4): Lightweight, breathable, non-transparent. Black is standard but not mandatory.
• [ ] Hijabs/Scarves: Breathable cotton or jersey. Frequent changing is needed due to heat.
• [ ] Niqab (Optional): If you wear it.
• [ ] Unscented Toiletries: Same rule applying to Ihram.
• [ ] Comfortable Walking Shoes: Skechers/Sneakers are highly recommended. You will walk 10-15km a day.
• [ ] Small Crossbody Bag: For phone/hotel card.

General Toiletries & Meds

• [ ] Vaseline / Anti-Chafing Cream: CRITICAL for men (inner thighs). The walk is long.
• [ ] Painkillers: Panadol/Ibuprofen for foot pain/headaches.
• [ ] Flu/Cold Meds: "Umrah Flu" is real. Bring Vitamin C.
• [ ] Sunscreen: The sun is intense, even in winter.
• [ ] Nail Clipper/Scissors: To cut hair after Umrah (Marwah).

Electronics

• [ ] Power Bank: 10,000mAh+. You will be out at the Haram for hours.
• [ ] Universal Travel Adapter: Saudi uses Type G (UK style) mostly.
• [ ] Headphones: For listening to Quran/Lectures on the bus.

❌ What NOT To Pack

• Drone: Strictly illegal. Confiscated at airport.
• Professional Camera: Often stopped at Haram gates. Phone is enough.
• Too much cash: Use a travel card (Revolut/Wise) or Credit Card. ATMs are everywhere.

Travel Strategy

When you land in Jeddah, you will be tired. Don't add "finding a taxi" to your stress list. Pre-book your ride. Your driver will help with the luggage you just carefully packed.
