Published: December 12, 2025

Madinah is the city of peace. While the focus is Masjid Nabawi, the city is filled with history. Walking where the Prophet (PBUH) walked is a spiritual obligation. Here are the 7 verified sites you must visit on your Ziyarat tour.

1. Masjid Quba (The First Mosque)

  • Significance: The first mosque built by the Prophet (PBUH) upon arriving in Madinah.
  • Reward: "Whoever purifies himself in his house then comes to the mosque of Quba and prays there... he will have the reward of an Umrah." (Ibn Majah)
  • Tip: Go early morning (7-9 AM) to avoid crowds.

2. Mount Uhud & Archers Hill

  • Significance: Site of the Battle of Uhud. The bodies of 70 martyrs, including Hamza (RA), are buried here.
  • Activity: Climb the small Archers Hill to see the battlefield layout.
  • Dua: Say Salam to the martyrs.

3. Masjid Al-Qiblatayn (Two Qiblas)

  • Significance: The mosque where the revelation came to change the direction of prayer from Jerusalem (Al-Aqsa) to Makkah (Kaaba).

4. The Seven Mosques (Al-Khandaq)

  • Significance: Site of the Battle of the Trench. There are actually 6 small mosques here now, marking where companions camped.
  • Status: Recently renovated with a beautiful new white mosque nearby.

5. Masjid Al-Ghamamah

  • Significance: Located just outside Masjid Nabawi (near Gate 6). Where the Prophet (PBUH) performed Eid prayer and prayer for rain.

6. Bir Othman (Well of Uthman)

  • Significance: purchased by Uthman ibn Affan (RA) for the community. It is still a functioning farm and garden today!
  • Status: Often closed to public, but you can see the gate and garden.

7. Date Garden (Farms)

  • Activity: Buy fresh Ajwa dates. Madinah dates are the best in the world.
  • Cost: Visit is free, you pay for what you buy.
