The Perfect 10-Day Umrah Itinerary 2026: Jeddah > Makkah > Madinah
Last Updated: December 3, 2025
Planning an Umrah trip can feel like a puzzle.
- How many days in Makkah?
- When should I go to Madinah?
- Will I have time for shopping?
Most pilgrims make the mistake of packing too much into the first few days, getting exhausted, and then falling sick.
I've designed this 10-Day Itinerary to be the perfect balance of worship (Ibadah), rest, and sightseeing. It assumes you are landing in Jeddah and flying out of Madinah (or returning to Jeddah).
Day 1: Arrival & The First Umrah
- Morning/Afternoon: Land at Jeddah Airport (JED).
- The Move: Take your pre-booked private transfer to Makkah. Don't stress about taxis now. Just get to the hotel.
- Check-in: Drop bags, shower, and rest for 2 hours. Do not skip the rest.
- Evening: Perform your Umrah. The evening air is cooler, and the crowd often thins out after Isha.
- Dinner: Al Baik (You have to try it once!) or a light meal near the hotel.
Day 2: Rest & Haram Connection
- Focus: Recover from travel.
- Prayers: Try to pray all 5 prayers in the Haram.
- Activity: Just sit in front of the Kaaba. Make dua. Soak it in.
- Tip: Drink plenty of Zamzam. It's the best energy drink.
Day 3: Makkah Ziyarat (History Day)
- Morning (7:00 AM): Book a Ziyarat tour to visit:
- Jabal Thawr (Cave of Migration)
- Jabal Al-Noor (Cave of Hira) - View from bottom unless you are fit to hike.
- Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah (The Hajj route).
- Afternoon: Rest and Dhuhr/Asr in Haram.
Day 4: Free Day / Shopping
- Activity: Explore the Clock Tower mall or the markets in Aziziyah for gifts (prayer mats, perfumes).
- Evening: Tawaf. Try to do a voluntary Tawaf after midnight when it's quieter.
Day 5: The Journey to Madinah
- Morning: Check out of Makkah hotel.
- The Move: Travel to Madinah.
- Option A: Haramain Train (Fast, but you need taxi to/from stations).
- Option B: Private Car (Door-to-door, scenic route, stop for tea).
- Arrival: Check into Madinah hotel. The vibe here is instantly more peaceful.
- Evening: Salam to the Prophet (ï·º).
Day 6: The Rawdah & Riaz-ul-Jannah
- The Big Event: Your pre-booked Nusuk slot for the Rawdah.
- Note: Arrive 30 minutes early. The angels are present here. Pour your heart out.
Day 7: Madinah Ziyarat (Sunnah Day)
- Morning (7:00 AM): Visit Masjid Quba.
- Hadith: Wudu at home + Prayer in Quba = Reward of Umrah.
- Next: Mount Uhud (Visit the Martyrs' cemetery).
- Next: Masjid Qiblatain and The Seven Mosques.
Day 8: Spiritual Reflection
- Focus: Spend as much time as possible in Masjid An Nabawi.
- Activity: Read Quran. The peace in this mosque is unlike anywhere else on earth.
Day 9: Last Shopping & Farewell
- Shopping: Dates! Buy Ajwa dates from the Madinah date market. They are fresh and cheaper here.
- Evening: The Farewell Salam. It's emotional. Promise yourself you will come back.
Day 10: Departure
- The Move: Transfer to Madinah Airport (MED) or drive back to Jeddah Airport (JED).
- Tip: If driving back to Jeddah (4.5 hours), book a comfortable SUV so you can sleep on the way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 10 days enough for Umrah?
Yes, 10 days is perfect. It allows for 4-5 days in Makkah and 4-5 days in Madinah, giving you time for rest and Ziyarat without rushing.
Should I go to Makkah or Madinah first?
Most people go to Makkah first to perform Umrah while they are in the state of Ihram from the flight. However, landing in Madinah first is also a great option to relax before the physical exertion of Umrah.
How much money should I bring for food/shopping?
For 10 days, budget around SAR 1,500 - 2,000 per person for food and moderate shopping. Credit cards are widely accepted.
Can I do this itinerary with kids?
Absolutely. This itinerary has plenty of rest time which is essential for families. Just make sure to book private transport so you aren't dragging luggage and strollers onto buses.
